Ayla Amano is a Japanese/British writer and director. After moving to New Zealand at a young age, Ayla's childhood was spent in West Auckland, mostly barefoot, climbing trees and horseback riding. She studied Screenwriting and Directing at South Seas Film & Television School, earning Best Film and Best Screenplay accolades. Her career led her to Vancouver, Canada, where she co-directed "Tomorrow's Harvest," a documentary for CBC.

 

Ayla's unique perspective is evident in the intimate human stories she told through a poetic cinematic lens. Her acclaimed short film "4x4," which premiered at the Cork International Film Festival in 2020, earned a Special Mention for Best Direction. Ayla also directed "Familial" for Irish Electronic Artist Daithi, showcasing her ability to blend tenderness and strength in storytelling. Collaborating with prominent Samoan actors, her narrative music video is a compelling masterpiece.
