Catching Kiwis

Film Construction Director Hugh Mitton is featured in the StopPress 'TVCs of the Week' for his latest job Salvation Army Safety Net.

The ad signifies the tough times many kiwis go through, and how the support provided by the Sallies catches kiwis as they fall. The TVC is a part of the Red Shield Appeal, and emphasises the universal nature of the Salvation Army, by which they help all New Zealanders and not just specific demographics. Unexpected events can happen to anyone, throwing one’s life into turmoil, and the Sallies are here to help.

The job features detailed slow motion shot on the Phantom v642 by DOP Daryl Habraken, as well as a techno crane which enabled spectacular overhead shots of falling actors.

"Working on this simple, emotive concept was a unique experience and for a great cause. I was incredibly fortunate to work with the trapeze flyers at Inflight Entertainment and a great crew, agency and client who all shared the same vision on the day. This was also my first shoot using the Phantom Flex camera and definitely won't be the last. One of the best single shoot days I've had." - Hugh Mitton
