Rialto Channel screens Harriett Maire's ANNA

The impressive debut short film "ANNA" is being screened for the first time on the Rialto channel this Saturday night.

Written and directed by Film Construction Director Harriett Maire, her graduation film at AUT has won awards and selections at film festivals worldwide.

It showcases Harriett's fantastic directorial skills, and an instinct for subtle yet powerful filmmaking.

“It is an impressive performance piece” says Film Construction Director Perry Bradley. "And it heralds the arrival of a major film talent."

The story follows the actions and interactions of a young woman on the Autism Spectrum, and what happens when her routine is unexpectedly interrupted. It features a moving central performance by young actress Geneva Norman. Harriett and Geneva worked hard to ensure the creation of a sympathetic and engaging character. Ensuring an authentic representation was integral to the film process.

“This film is a little beauty - sensitive, honest & fresh. You enter the mind space and feel the feelings - there is empathy, hope and so much promise here.”

-Fiona Samuel

“..a beautifully realised story… I am delighted to see this complex and generous-hearted portrait of someone on the edge of society's "norms".

- Miranda Harcourt

Judge for yourself when ANNA screens on SKY's Rialto channel at 8:15pm, Saturday 28 October before Academy award winning “Lion”
