The cut and polish of craftsman Chris Clark.
We couldn't be more chuffed to welcome Chris to our family of filmmakers.
We've known Chris for around a decade. He first caught our attention when he won a pitch against one of our senior directors. From that point on, we recognised he was a significant talent, and one to watch. A fistful of years later, it feels right to be joining forces.
Chris is a slight juxtaposition. As a sun loving, long haired skater/surfer, he's supremely chill. As a director his work ethic is meticulous, even driven. His discipline shines through, matching an abundance of creativity and free spiritedness, with a deep understanding of process and technique. He knows his craft. He knows how to drive a narrative. And what filmic tools to use to maximise those precious 30-90 seconds of emotional leading.
Says Chris, ”As a young director, I always had ambitious creative ideas. Making work beyond its means and not allowing anyone to notice my constraints. It’s still 100% like that. No one cares what you were up against. All that matters is how it makes you feel when you watch it."
Chris' sweet spot is making commercial films with beautiful visuals, brimming with authentic life and human warmth. The stuff that makes you feel good. His reel ranges across stunning visuals, comedy, character, and above all, story shaping. He has done prominent campaigns for Toyota, Sky TV, Kiwi Rail, Cavalier Bremworth, Electrolux and Sovereign Insurance.
We can't wait for Chris to start crafting some beautiful pieces on the Film Construction work bench.
